Menstruation

The average American woman will have some 500 periods in her lifetime, beginning around the age of 12. But in spite of all this first-hand experience, many of us have little more than a superficial understanding of exactly what our body goes through during menstruation – leading us to overreact at any sign of an abnormality. Well don’t let your imagination get the best of you anymore! All you need to know is here!

What Is Menstruation

If you are not quite sure where to begin, check out our menstruation articles and the Q&A page on period issues to find out about some of the common problems women experience on their periods. You can also get the answers to your specific questions on abnormal bleeding patterns and what could be causing sudden changes in your menstrual cycle. For those experiencing irregular periods, missed periods, or late periods, you’ll want to check out the articles pertaining to each to find out what might be causing the problem.  Missed periods can signal hormonal imbalances like those caused by PCOS or it can mean you are pregnant.  Find out more.

PMS, Cramps and Bloating

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is one unfortunate side effect of getting your period. But what cuases pms symptoms in the first place? Find out how your diet, for example, may play a crucial role in reducing your symptoms. If you are experiencing more severe PMS, however, you may want to look into what your treatment options are. For example, many women suffer through the cramps on their period, when there are many treatments available (including non-prescription ones). Another common symptom of PMS is the menstrual migraine – but are you sure yours is not simply caused by tension? The answer could mean the difference between suffering and relief.

If, on the other hand, your symptoms are more emotional than physical, you should look into the differences between pms and pmdd, since this latter disorder is characterized by mood disturbances related to menstruation, such as anxiety, depression and irritability.  PMDD is a more serious disorder and if you think you may suffer from this condition you should tell your doctor and ensure that you receive the correct treatment.

Abnormal Bleeding

Heavy bleeding is another common problem many women are concerned about. But what if you’ve begun perimenopause and are still experiencing heavy bleeding? And while constant bleeding is a concern at any age, does it carry any greater significance for women over 50? What about after age 39? Another problem that can be a major concern for women over the age of 40 is constant uterine bleeding, since it is after that age that the risk of uterine cancer is greatest.

And no matter what age you are, you will want to be sure to get a proper diagnosis of exactly what is causing your period problem. One technique you might want to learn more about is saline injection therapy.  Learn more about this new treatment.

Hello, So i need help please !! My periods are about 27 to 30 days apart . My fiancé and i have been having unprotected sex for alil over a year now. I had got my period on the i had my period on Feb 1st and it was over on the 4th. I usually have a very heavy painful period. I have Interstitial cystitis "also called painful bladder syndrome — is a chronic condition causing bladder pressure, bladder pain and sometimes pelvic pain. The pain ranges from mild discomfort to severe.) So my period cramps get very bad. Anyway i got off my period two days ago .My cramps were not bad at all compared to the usual one. The flow was still a bit heavy for about a day but not as heavy as it usually is. My man and i have been having alot of sex lately. I know for a fact we had sex on the 16th my birthday and the night i got off. This morning i went pee when i wiped there was like mucus that was very very faint pink. Now also i have been taking Latuda , i got on it 8 days ago.&& the doctor had given me a prego test to make sure. She had me leave it right before i left but i am assuming it was negative because i never got a call from her to tell me if i need to be on different medication. I have no idea if that has anything to do with this whole ordeal but all i could find online was hormone changes, implantation ( i just got off so i dont think that is it ) and last thing i came close to would be a yeast infection (but there is blood and i dont have any itchy feeling or smell. PLEASE HELP I DONT KNOW IF IM NOT DOING ENOUGH RESEARCH OR LOOKING IN THE WRONG PLACES BUT I NEED ANY INPUT. I APPRECIATE ANY ANSWERS !!!!

I started my period on Wednesday, March 26 and by Friday, March 28 I was finished. My period normally lasts anywhere between 5-7 days. Shortly after my period stopped I started spotting again. Could this be from stress or something else?

Please feedback! I am 31. I have 3 children, and gad a tubal ligation 55 years ago after my last child. I never have "regular" periods per say but not horribly irregular either. That being said, and forgive me for unwanted details but I had my period not too too bad, when it was coming to am end (brownish stage) it seemed to stop completely for about a day. Than there was very light bleeding. Panty liner light but enough that something was needed. Than There Would Be Nothing On the Liner but When I Would whipe After Using the rest room It Was A Very Light Watery Kind Of bleeding. Periodically I would see small mucusy looking clots very small. That's it. I am crampy and the watery bleeding has not ceased. I had a check up 9 months ago give or take, the doc said everything looked ok and if my Pap was abnormal I would hear from them. No news was good news so when I didn't get a call I didn't think of it again. Now where I would give anything to have a baby I know that is not possible. So us there any suggestions or insight on how I should handle this??????.
