I'm thinking of getting a mirena IUD. My doctor says that it's good if you get heavy periods and mine are really heavy-duty. I\'m kinda scared to go and do it. I don't know why. Does the insertion hurt? Is there anything else I shld know?

I hate to say it, but I heard it hurts like a b***h. But, if you're smart, you'll take something a few horus before you have it put in. Ibuprofen or something like that.

Look, even if it hurts a bit when they put it in, think of all the FREEDOM after. Five frigging years of not having to think about birth control. Worth a bit of pain if you ask me.

Hi Sophia, glad you asked cuz this is something I happen to know about. The pain isn't the end of the world, so you'll take something before you go in, and mebbe for a few horus after. The real thing you need to think about is timing. Make sure the put it in a week before you get your period. My doctor said that's real important.

You don't say, but if you had a baby, you need to wait for 6 weeks. Like, just when you stop bleeding and caN sex again, you'll have to go get the mirena put in.

i had an iud and it hurt going in but the real clincher was when they took it out. it stuck to the side of my uterus and i cant even tell you how bad the pain was when the doc pulled that sucker out

i have the mirena and when my doctor inserted it didn't hurt that much all i felt was cramps.

I've got Mirena, I hate it my doc said the same thing, I'm super moody for no reason, it hurts when they put it in. It can tear through your uteris' wall and attach too. There's alot than can go wrong. But everyone's different, it might work for you.
