hey - i just heard that bcps can increase the risk of cancer. i've been on them for a while and now i'm freaked out. is it true?

I wouldn't freak out too much. The research on this is confusing. If you use the pill for a really long time, there is a slightly increased risk of breast cancer...but then again they say there is a decreased risk of ovarian and other cancers. Ask your doctor - but I don't think it's a huge issue.

I agree with Georgie. Don't get too stressed about this. Recent studies have shown some increased risk for breast cancer - but it has to do with a bunch of factors and with being on the pill for a really long time. It's still a better form of birth control than many. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

like what's worse - breast cancer or ovarian and other cancers. i'm thinkin it might be a good idea to check out some other types of birth control - any suggestions?
