Two days ago I received my first Ab Pap for HGSIL. My doctor referred me to a GYN (scheduled tomorrow) for a colposcope. My last pap was Jan 08. Does this mean I have an "aggressive form" of dysplasia or is this normal for a pap to go from "normal" to HGSIL in a year? I understand the biopsy will give the actual results of dysplasia, just curious. BTW, my mom had cervical cancer at a young age and I'm a smoker (which increases the risk). No known HPV - haven't been tested. Thanks!

This is not a response, I have a question, I went with my daughter to have a pap done, hers kept coming back abnormal. The doctor was having a little difficulty finding the opening because her cervix is tilted, finally she told us that jmy daughter has two cervical openings! something that probally occured in the womb, should we be worried about this? and what should she expect?

No, pap smears have a false negative rate of up to 50% so it is likely if you have an abnormality it has been there for some time. Cervical cancer is not hereditary. Smokers have a double risk of Low and high grade SIL, your immune system is compromised.

See a gyn for explanation. A double cervix is rare but it means that the Doc has to check both for any abnormalities
