I'm 37 years old, and have been on the same birth control pill for over 10 years. Over the last year I've noticed a bit of spotting mid cycle, about every 3rd or 4th period. This month, I missed one pill during the end of my first week of pills, and had spotting, followed by heavy bleeding about 5 days after the missed pill. The bleeding lasted about 3 days, with a lot of clotting, but very little cramping. Since then I've had daily spotting. I skipped the week of sugar pills on my pharmacists advice, and started a fresh pack, but there has been no change in the spotting. I have a doctor's appointment in a couple week's time, but I'm very concerned about this bleeding, as this has never happened before.
