Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding

Hi, I'm a 17-year-old student. I have been experiencing a prolonged menstrual bleeding period - about 3 weeks to present. The bleeding is and was not heavy when it began. And there is no severe abdominal pain. Usually my periods last for about a week. Apart from that, I did not engage in any sexual intercourse.
Is this condition serious?

Thank you! ^^

Its not normal, get yourself off to the docs, esp if it keeps happening. You can get tested for underactive thryoid, get a scan to see if you have Polycystic ovary syndrome or a cyst on your ovary (both of these can cause the irregular and prolonged bleeding you have). Dont worry, but its best to look into these things if you keep having long periods.

good luck!
