Period stopped after starting the pill

I got my period at 1am on Sunday morning. I started the pill for the first time on Monday, and by Tuesday my period had completely stopped.
My period was different than usual, it was only spotting, not painful, it arrived late, and the blood was brown, sometimes pink but mostly brown.
What is going on?

those are normal signs / side effects when you are on birth control pills. some small amounts of blood or spotting between periods, or lighter periods.
