ODORLESS, yellow discharge, painful, itching.

I recently began having unprotected sex with a new partner. As far as we know he is clean. This is also my first sexual partner.
So far it's been once a week for the past three weeks, but about three times a night. This is obviously bound to cause some irritation, but it becomes extremely sore and itchy down there after sex. There was no discharge at all until last night, after sex. The discharge is heavier now. Thick, white-yellow, sticky, and odorless. The itching is intense, and mostly around the opening and clitoris.
Again, we are not using condoms. I asked my doctor, who prescribed some medication for a yeast infection. I have yet to try it, since I just picked it up.
As far as I have read, odorLESS white-yellow discharge isn't a characteristic of yeast infections. It isn't like cottage cheese. It's more like mucous. Thick and sticky, but not clumpy.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

There are a few different types of yeast infections. There are external ones as well as internal ones. It is possible that you do only have a yeast infection. I would recommend that you use the medication your doctor gave you.

If the symptoms persist then I would insist on a full STD panel be preformed.

Even though a typical yeast infection is categorized with 'cottage cheese' discharge, it is not so in every case. There are yeast infections with no symptoms, only half the 'usual' symptoms, different types of discharge, and no discharge. Take themedication from the doctor and use it all even if you feel better sooner.
